Environmentally Aware and Green

Chroma Cares about the environment, that’s why we take extra steps to provide green printing solutions.

Chromagraphics was FSC® certified in 2008 and we have maintained our certification to date.  Our FSC certification code is C018016.  FSC® certification can positively impact workers and communities, governance can be shifted globally and change the economic and environmental conditions in the forest.  Products with the FSC® label are identified as products with the roots in well-managed forests.

We also actively promote the Print Grows Trees program.  There are a lot of misconceptions out there and many believe that by using less paper, trees will be saved, when the facts show that print on paper actually helps to grow trees and keep our forests from being sold for development.  The synergy between printing and the state of America’s woodlands and a better understanding of how print on paper can help private landowners keep our forests growing and healthy.  For more information about the Print Grows Trees program click here:

Chromagraphics received its certification with the Maryland Green Registry in 2010.  This organization allows for shared content and tips for implementing and showcasing environmental best practices.  Chromagraphics served as a showcase facility where other companies interested in joining the Registry visited prior to their certification.  For more information about the Maryland Green registry, click here:

In addition to the above environmental initiatives, many years ago we switched over to only use non-VOC inks and toners in our manufacturing process.

We also are a member of EnerNoc which allows for us to supply electric to the grid when it is needed.  This is a cooperative energy program that benefits the environment and is a great program to be a part of.  This is a program we have belonged to for many years in which not many printers are allowed to participate.

At Chromagraphics, we recycle all of our paper and packaging waste, wooden and plastic pallets, as well as our printing plates and other metals used in our operation.  Being environmentally responsible is well ingrained into our corporate culture throughout all aspects of our manufacturing process and will continue to be a major corporate goal of ours going forward.
